Conservation International Botswana

Conservation International was founded in 1987 and currently has offices in 30 countries, including Botswana. Conservation International combines fieldwork with innovations in science, policy and finance, helping protect more than 13 million square kilometers (5 million square miles) of land and sea across more than 70 countries.

Our projects

Conservation International Botswana GCF Project

The Government of Botswana through the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with Conservation International (Botswana) is implementing the Green Climate Fund Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Mitigation in Botswana’s Communal Rangelands Project in the three target project areas of Ngamiland, Kgalagadi and Bobirwa (covering Okavango, North West, Hukuntsi, Tsabong, Mabutsane and Bobirwa Administrative Districts) to restore vegetation in communal rangelands that are severely impacted by climate change and, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over 8.5 years.

Pro-Nature Enterprises Project

The Pro-nature Enterprises Project for the people of Southern Africa intends to strengthen and disseminate its approach to community-based natural resources management (CBNRM). Conservation agreements with local farmers and/or communities will create enabling social, economic and environmental conditions to promote biodiversity conservation and support development of sustainable “nature-friendly” enterprises that make local communities more financially self-sufficient. The project is implemented in Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe in partnership with local implementing partners in the respective countries.
